JUST IN: Abronye, MCE, Council Of Elders Chair And Others Cited For Contempt
KWAME BAFFOE ALIAS “ABRONYE”(BONO REGIONAL CHAIRMAN), ANSU KUMI( SUNYANI MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE, FELICIA APPIAH ( SYI EAST COUNCIL OF ELDERS CHAIRPERSON), I.K AMANKWAA ( SYI EAST COUNCIL OF PATRONS CHAIRMAN), KATE NANA YAA AMPONSAH AGYARE, ADJEI YAW SARKODIE & OTHERS CITED FOR CONTEMPT AT THE SUNYANI HIGH COURT
On 28th February, 2022 Motion Ex-parete was moved and granted by the Honourable Court as prayed. Those who have been cited for contempt were all served with the Order for the Interlocutory Injunction.
Despite the Order for the interlocutory injunction, Abronye and his cohorts purport to have proceeded to vet some persons for various positions in the Election for the Constituency and purport to have concluded same.
Despite the injunction on the Sunyani East polling station and Electoral area Elections, Abronye and his cohorts purported to have conducted the 2022 polling stations and Electoral area Elections for the Constituency. That the purported vetting and the election have been conducted by them despite the pendency of the present action and the existence of the interlocutory injunction in respect of the Election for the Constituency.
According to Abronye, Ansu kumi and his team have submitted a report to him and have carried out all the pre-election activities and conducted the Elections and thus have discharged their mandate/duties in the Election.
Abronye said that he has since submitted a report in respect of the Elections of the Constituency which has been adopted by the Regional and National Executive Committee notwithstanding notice of the Oder of the Interlocutory injunction by the High Court, Sunyani.
Abronye has indicated that Ansu Kumi and his team have submitted a report on the conclusion of the Elections for the Constituency and that there is no issue in respect of the Elections for the Constituency.
It is the case of the plaintiffs that though no polling stations Elections have been held for the Constituency, Abronye, Ansu Kumi and his team in connivance with other people have fraudulently prepared an album for the Constituency as if the Elections for the Constituency have been held.
The plaintiffs say that Abronye, Ansu kumi and others have subsequently gone in total disregard of the pending suits and to tell the National Executive Committee of the Party that no matter/issue was pending in court in respect of the Elections for the Constituency and that the said suit had been settled knowing very well at the time of making such representation that same was false.
The plaintiffs are challenging the High court that the conduct of Abronye and his cohorts is totally reprehensible and ought to be punished for their total disrespect, spit , disregard and disobedience to the Order and processes of the Honourable Court. This is because Abronye and his cohorts are daring the authority of the Court and hence ought to be punished.
Finally, plaintiffs are saying that the unruly conduct of Abronye and Ansu kumi, the MCE of sunyani and his team if not punished will send a wrong signal to the public that the court cannot bite if court processes are treated with total disdain.
