KNUST Students Using School Fees For Bakery And Uber Businesses- URO Reveals

It has been disclosed that, some of the students of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science And Technology (KNUST) use their school fees to buy vehicles for Uber and bakery business.

The University’s Relations Officer(URO) who revealed this today, Wednesday, April 13, 2022 on a Kumasi based Silver FM’s morning show said, parents toiled to give monies to their wards for the settlement of their fees but, the students collect the money and invest it in other business outside.

According to the URO, the students spend the money meant for their fees on businesses such as Uber, Bakery etc, leaving the fees unpaid.

Dr. Daniel Bekoe unearthed this on the show hosted by Nana Ampratwum.

More than thousand (1000) students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) will have to defer their courses for nonpayment of tuition fees.

The deadline for the payment of fees was extended from March 24, 2022 to April 7, 2022, but some students have still not been able to pay their fees.

The KNUST Student Representative Council (SRC) President, Michael Abuah in interview disclosed that the SRC has pleaded with the Institution’s Management for another extension date.

He also said that the SRC has disbursed some amount of money to some 2,380 students for the payment of their fees.

However, the Bekoe in reaction to this during the interview monitored by filasconews.com revealed that, management have given platform to the students who have genuine issues to report but none has taken advantage.

Adding that, authorities will do their best to keeping the institution in shape.
