Drunkards Association of Ghana with immediate effect has boycotted all alcoholic beverages from GIHOC distilleries Company over the recent comment made by the managing director.
In the late hours of yesterday, a Kumasi-based radio station Nyhira FM shared a post where the managing director of GIHOC distilleries said that prices of their alcoholic beverages have been increased and anyone who cannot afford should drink water.
He added that if anyone cannot afford to pay the new prices, they can opt for water instead of alcohol.
“We have increased the price of alcohol and we will continue to increase it. If you are not ready to buy then stop drinking alcohol and drink water,” Jumah said.
It appears that the consumers of alcoholic beverages have lost their cool over the comment made by the manager of GIHOC.
In a rebuttal, Ghana Drunkards Association protested against the MD and the company’s products.
They have called on the MD to render an apology to all drinkers and patronizers of their products.

In an interview with Ashh fm reporter Barbara Koranteng, the President of the Association, Moses Onyah (Dry bone), the group has urged its members across the country to choose other alcoholic products over those from the GIHOC brand.
“We wish to state without mincing words that, in as much as there is a continual alcoholic beverage price increase in the country in recent times, the said remarks of the Director cannot be tolerated in any form or shape as it is adversely affecting our day to day hobby.”
“Our members as it were cannot afford to buy the usual quantity of drinks in recent times and for a whole Director to direct our members to drink water if we cannot afford the current market price is out of place and an insult to our members.
We demand an immediate withdrawal of the said statement followed by an unqualified apology as well”, Moses Onya warned during an interview with Barbara Koranteng.
