WORRYING: Water Scarcity Hit Asikiri Community, Residents Rely On Dug-Out Water Source(Contact& Photos)

The residents of a community called Asikiri, a suburb of Bawku Zabugu in the Bawku Municipality of the Upper East Region are in dire need of potable water.

When Damak Sanitation And Health Watch visited the community on Monday, 28th February 2022, was very shocking to note that the only source of water that serves the community, drains out during the drought season due to its shallow nature and the number of people depending on it.

Besides the large human demand rest on only stand pipe and the dugout water source, domestic animals also compete on the same water source.

However, they have to fetch from the dugout twice daily following the high demand for it.

The disturbing aspect of the situation is that the community has about 500 population that depends on the only dugout water source for living and this is raising health concerns in the community calls for immediate intervention to salvage them with a potable water source in the community.
