KMA secures £2.5M from EU Commission as Technical Assistance in Recycling Project

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) in collaboration with it’s development partners in Spain and Cape Vade Holistic Reinforcement for Sustainable Development (HORESD) have secured £2.5M technical assistance from the European Union commission to implement a 30- month recycling project.

Speaking at the inauguration,The local Project Coordinator for Holistic Reinforcement for Sustainable Development (HORED) Mr Joshua Tetenotey said the aim for the project is building and strengthening the capacity of the Assembly and it’s citizens to collectively practice sound environmental activities that ensure reducing, reusing cycling and recovering waste generated in the city.

The program seek to change the perception of the citizenry to see waste as material in transition that can be harness to create gainful job for unemployment.

Meanwhile Nana Akyeamfour Asafo Boakye Agyeman Bonsu,Asafohene in the Kumasi Traditional Area, urge to support the Project initiated by EU COMMISSION to benefit Kumasi and it environment and also to create employment for the unemployment youth.

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Major Hon Sammuel Pyne said, the time has come for the citizenry of Kumasi and it enclave to put their hands on deck to support the program.
