Accident: Two killed in a head-on collision in Ashanti Region

The Tamale-Techiman-Kumasi road continues to be a very serious accident prone area taking several lives and rendering thousands disabled that a week will pass without such an accident been reported or recorded.

Another serious accident happened Friday night at about 9:30pm at Akumadan killing two instantly and leaving hundreds of vehicles carrying passengers from Accra-Kumasi and Techiman-Tamale stranded for hours.

A Kia Rino with registration number AS 2399-11 fully loaded with charcoal from Bole-Bamboi and heading to Accra crashed with an overtaking Pick-up Car with registration number AS 1203-22 and also coming from Nkenkaasu at a place near Akumadan in the Offinso North District of Ashanti region.

The only two people in the pick-up car damaged beyond repairs i.e. the driver and another died at the spot while the driver of the KIA Rino sustained some injuries.

The collision caused the two vehicles to cross the road and the late arrival of the Ambulance and Fire Services as well as unavailability of a towing vehicle to clear the cars from the only road linking Kumasi to Techiman resulted to countless cars been stranded for more than four hours.

Our correspondent Nana Kwadwo Adu who bumped into the accident managed to speak to Awudu Osman the Driver of the Kia Rino who narrated how he saw accident….
