“We’re coming after you” – Lands Minister cautions Forest Reserves invaders
Hon Benito Owusu Bio , the Deputy Minister for lands and Natural Resources, in charge of lands and forestry has cautioned forest reserves invaders to as a matter of urgency put a stop else, his outfit is coming after them.
The minister has therefore warned the general public to abstain from any activities that deplete forest reserves saying, the Ministry has put strict measures in place to clamping down people who carry out illegalities in the reserves.
Hon. Benito Owusu Bio, who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region made this known to the press at Subinso, in the Sefwi-Wiawso Municipality of the Western North Region today during a visit to the Subinso Forest Reserve.
The Minister was worried that, care must be taken else some people will demolish the country’s forest reserves with their illegal activities.
Mr. Bio disclosed in the interview that, Lands and Natural Resources and Forestry Commission of Ghana will not sit aloof, to allow some nation wreckers to invade and destroy the forest reserves.
“We are going to clamp them down”, the minister gave the warning adding that, no one has the right to enter any forest reserves without legally acquired permit.
“Woe betides any individual caught henceforth, in our forest reserves without legal permit, the law will deal with you accordingly”, he stressed.
The Minister also revealed that, the Government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has given a financial clearance to recruit more officers into the field.
Finally, he urged Ghanaians to be weary of their activities in this harmattan season to avoid fire unnecessary outbreaks.
