Chairman of the Cocoa Carriers in Ashanti Region, Mr. Raymond Abobiga Atanga has stated on Silver FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show that, their work has now excelled nationwide over their recent strike action.
Speaking on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, after the carriers have suspended their strike action, Mr. Abobiga told the host of the program, Nana Ampratwum that, at least their voice has been heard by the general public and their name, everywhere.
Cocoa carriers at Kumasi, Takoradi and Tema and abandoned their duties and demanded increment on their daily wage.
The carriers receive 62 pesewas per bag of cocoa they carry, but call for 38 pesewas increment, making it GH¢1.
Although, they have not received what they were asking for, the Cocoa Marketing Company Limited has increased the amount to 82 pesewas.
20 pesewas increment.
