“We’re seeking for justice for our late brother”- Groups

Executives of Shaip Africa Foundation and the National Alliance For Nzema development has insisted that, they won’t allow the death of their brother, Michael Derry a.k.a Dudu murder Case ‘dies’ untill justice is served.

The two non-profit organization groups says they are diligently following the incident of brutality allegedly meted on Michael Derry by security Guards of Adamus which subsequently led to his demise.

In a joint press statement to brief the media and the general public about the account on some developments on the said case so far, the group said, “on Wednesday 29th December, 2021, youth of Teleku Bokazo community met to deliberate on the issue and suggested possible ways forward.”

The statement which was signed by Mr. Clement Clinton Blay of Shaip Africa Foundation and Shadrach O. Quaicoe contained that, at the said meeting, it was recommended that they join forces with the youth of Anwia community and pursue this course in unity and strength.

The release further counted that, on Thursday 20th December, 2021, a meeting was held at the premises of Adamus Resources between some top management members of the company, District Police commander and elders of Anwia community.

Sources has revealed that, some top management of the company are now calling for peace and appealed to Elders of Anwia to restore calm among the aggrieved youth as the case is being handled legally.

Statement from the camp of the civil groups reveals that, the Ellembelle District Security Council, led by the DCE for the area has also taken a Keen interest to engage the irate youth to brief them the steps taken by DISEC to address the issue.

 

“On Monday, 3d January, 2022, the District m Security Council (DISEC) led by DCE Kwasi Bonzoh met elders and youth of Teleku Bokazo and Anwia community respectively to engage them on the steps taken by the council on the issue” they stated.

Currently, among others, the communities have demanded that the company suspends its operations for some time until the final determination of the case, punish anyone found culpable including the company, and above all, the company gives them part of their concession for community mining.

The family of Budu, the victim, on 3rd January, 2022 has arrived from Nandom to assist in the investigation process and all other necessary engagements.

The interested parties and other youth groups also on the same day 3rd January, 2022 visited the father of the deceased who is amputated at St. Martin de Porres Hospital at Eikwe to console him on his son’s unfortunate incident.

Meanwhile, SHAIP AFRICA FOUNDATION as part of their social cooperation for the less privileged, has donated a wheelchair to Mr. Kwame Komfo, the adopted father of the deceased who is currently amputated and admitted at the hospital.

The family on 4th January, 2022 further made a visit to the Essiama divisional command, but yet to pen down an official Police statement.

According to the group, it’s however worth to note that, the company has had no direct engagement with members of the two communities as their first attempt in Anwia was unsuccessful.

The group have seriously declared to continue to carefully follow the murder case until its final determination and ensure that justice is being served as they continue engaging the general public.
