The Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ahafo South West, Hon. Johnson Kwaku Adu and his colleague for Tain Constituency, Hon. Sulemana Ramzy Adams clashed over the legality of the 2022 budget rejection.
According to the NPP MP, Hon. Johnson Kwaku Adu, Ghanaians should not regard the reports concerning the rejection of the budget saying it is illegal as the members of the minority in parliament at that particular period could not form a column to rejecting a statement.
Speaking on Omanbapa Morning Show on Silver FM on Tuesday, November 30,2021, Hon. Johnson Kwaku Adu said, the acts of the minority is an unconstitutional and it has no effect on the budget.
On counter respond, Hon. Ramzy Adams on the same platform refuted his colleague’s claims adding that what the minority did was constitutional.
He argued that, the numbers of the minority at that time in parliament was enough to rejecting the ballot therefore the majority’s claims of unconstitutionality in what they did are baseless as must be disregard by all.
When asked by the host of the program, Nana Ampratwum about a change of mind on the budget rejection, the NDC was quick to respond no,” we still stand on our decision”.
However, the majority has opposed their decision describing the speaker’s endorsement as a ‘shame’ to allow such illegalities in the house.
The battle goes on……
