The Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon.Haruna Idrisu has stressed that, the Minority he chairs will never accept the levy on MoMo.
According to the Tamale South Member of Parliament, the tax if approved will over burden Ghanaian citizens.
The government through the Minister of Finance, Hon. Ken Ofori Atta has put 1.75% tax on all MoMo transaction. According to the Finance Minister, the appropriate way for the government to get fund to support development of the nation is targeting the electronic Platform thereby taxing MoMo users to accrue monies from there.
But giving assurance to the people who are not in support of the tax, the Minority Leader, Hon. Haruna Idrisu said, they will make sure parliament reject that tax imposition on MoMo.
He stated this at Ho in the Volta Region at the Post Budget Discussion today, November 22, 2021-Monday.
He said, Ghanaians should have faith in them that, the MoMo tax will not be approved.
“Already Ghanaians are suffering, so how can we allow this Government to also add this tax to make them suffer more. No! we the minority in parliament will not and never accept this”, Hon. Haruna stressed.
