E/R: Council of Zongo Chiefs get new Queen Mother and new Dagomba Chairman

The Zongo communities in the Eastern Region are on the right path to witness an additional transformation of development following the installation of two prominent positions in the region.

In a short ceremony held at Koforidua Zongo on Sunday, 13th February, 2022, the Eastern Regional Council of Zongo Chiefs enthroned Rabiatu Abubakar as Queen Mother for the Eastern Regional Council of Zongo Chiefs.

She was also acknowledged and commended for her efforts of Empowering women of improving their livelihoods in Zongo areas.

The ceremony also witnessed the installation of Dr. Sampson Kwarkwa as the new Eastern Regional Dagomba Chairman.

 

 

This was announced by Alhaji Abubakar Umar who is the Eastern Regional Council of Zongo Chief’s president and doubles as the National Council of Zongo Chief’s Vice president.

Alhaji Abubakar Umar speaking to journalists in a sideline, he said, the two newly leaders were advise to be submissive and promote unity amongst the various tribes in Zongo to ensure adequate development.

Alhaji Abubakar Umar again urged the youth to find a proper job to do so as to avert social vices which mostly decline the development of Zongo communities. Adding that, the Zongo development fund introduced by the government have created some opportunities and impacted positively on the lives of people living in Zongo communities hence he called on them to take absolute advantage of the fund.

Speaking to Afeema News, Dr. Sampson Kwarkwa who is the current chairman of the Dagomba’s in the Eastern Region on his part mentioned that, though Koforidua Zongo have witnessed some level of development but it’s not up to satisfactory, he said.

He therefore pledged to work hand in hand with other developmental oriented stakeholders to develop the regional capital.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sampson have called on all the 38 tribes in Zongo communities to be united since unity is one of the key ingredients for community development.
