COLLAPSED BRIDGE AFFECTING SOCIO-ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES AT EJURATIA

Residents of Ejuratia in the Afigya Kwabre South District have expressed worry over a collapsed bridge that links their town to other communities.

The situationin has affected the socio-economic activities in the area.

The bridge connects Ejuratia to communities such as Hemang, Mpobi, Ankaase through to Mamponteg has been in this deplorable state for several months specifically Six months. The bridge is now a death trap.

According to the residents, the appaling state of the bridge is affecting trading, healthcare delivery, education and farming activities in the area since most drivers are unwilling to plying the road.

The few drivers who tried to use the road are also charging exorbitant transport fares this according to the people is making life unbearable.

Assembly member for the area, Hon. Kwame Agyei told Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame during a visit to the community that the road becomes inaccessible whenever it rains.

He said though there an on-going construction work on Aboaso to Hemang-Ejuratia to Ankaase road but was quick to add that, the collapsed bridge needs urgent repair to ease the sufferings of the people in the area.

Hon Agyei appealed to the Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly to come to their aid by reconstructing the bridge to support their livelihood.

Ataa Maame, a trader also appealed to the government and stakeholders to help fix the bridge to prevent the area from being cut off from other communities in the district.

She disclosed that, vehicles have been falling inside since the bridge collapsed in the past Six months.
