This was revealed by his aide Alhaji Umar Sanda (Lieutinant-Colonel rtd) in a message presented on behalf of the former president John Dramani Mahama during a birthday anniversary of Imam Ali (a.s) at Nima-441 organised by Imam Baqir (a.s) Islamic Center during the Weekend 4th February, 2023.
Shia-Muslims believed that Imam Ali (a.s) is the first successor of the Holy Prophet Mohamad and that the Household of the Holy Prophet Mohammad are pure and infallibles based on the Quranic and Sunni Teachings of the Prophet of Islam which was pro-claimed on several occasions since revelation till his last call to Allah in Medina in Suadi-Arabia.
The program was organized to mark the birth anniversary of Imam Ali who was born in the sacred place inside the Kaba. Imam Ali is respected by both Ahmadis and Sunni Muslims for his honesty, belief, courage, knowledge, loyalty to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and his devotion to Islam.
The event was attended by several franchise and powerful delegation including the Ayawaso North Member of Parliament, Flt Lieutenant Imam Mohammed Mochaorudeen Maiga Imam of the Ghana Airforce and the NPP National Nasara Cordinator Alhaji Aziz Haruna Futa and many more.
The Rtd Military Imam announced that the former president JM has started to show interest in the Shia teachings after when he received a powerful delegation to his office last year.
He said Sheikh Sulaiman Ahmed paid a courtesy call on him and presented a couple of books which he has taken his time to read them and would like to have discussions with the Islamic Scholar.
His excellence said “I should inform you that he has taken his time to read the books and has begin to show interest in the teachings and doctrines of the Shia sects” Rtd Lieutenant Colonel Umar Sanda disclosed.
The former Ghanaian diplomat and Head of Islamic Affairs at the office of the former President John Dramani Mahama, Alhaji Umar Sanda made it known to the Congregants that as a fellow of Assemblies of Gods Church, His Excellence entreats all Ghanaian citizens to see themselves as one father but with different choices of religions. Because the constitution of the Republic of Ghana gives all citizens an equal right to belong to any association and religion.
The Imam Baqir (a.s) Islamic Center is a Shia based Organisation which promote Islamic values, morals, teachings and community devotion.
Based in Accra-Nima, this organization embarks on several programs to educate the Ghanaian Youth about love for each other, patriotism, they also run entrepreneur programs to equip the youth with skills that would make them relevant in the society.
