Akwadum Christian Village Orphanage Foundation Receives Relief Items From Nsukwao Presby YAF Group

The faces of children at the Akwadum Christian Village orphanage in Akwadum in New Juaben North of the Eastern Region is beaming with smiles due to the benevolence of the Nsukwao Estates Calvary Congregation of the Presbyterian Church Young Adults Fellowship (YAF) group on Saturday, 29th April, 2023.

The Akwadum Christian Village Orphanage home caters for the basic welfare, social and the educational need of orphans as they provide full adoption services.

The Orphanage home was established by Madam Elizabeth Osei, a retired Nurse with the aim of taking care of Orphans and destitute in Akwadum and it’s environment.

There is a school established by the authorities of the home to care for the educational needs of the children with about 42 children under their care currently.

The donation on Saturday, was led by the leader of Nsukwao Estates Calvary YAF group, Mr Godfred Sowatey, assisted by the Akwadum Kyidomhene Nana Kwaku Owusu, Catechist Hayford Okyere, some group executives and other members of YAF.

Items donated included 4 bags of used clothing, 3 gallons of 5liters of cooking oil, 10 packs of soft drinks, 12 packs of toilet Trolls, 3 bags of 25kg rice, 18 packs of bottled water, two cartons of chicken, 25 bags of sachets water.

Others are liquid soaps, disinfectant, mob bucket and brush, 5 crates of eggs, towels, bedsheets, tin tomatoes, GTP cloths, onions, baby wipes, canned fishes, 1 pack of milk, washing powder, 4 dozens of face towels and other domestic items.

The president of Young Adults’ Fellowship (YAF), a group within Nsukwao Estates Calvary Congregation, Mr. Godfred Sowatey explained that the gesture forms part of 2023 YAF Week Celebration project which aims to help humanity to cater for their needs.

Mr. Sowatey speaking in an interview with Afeema FM’s journalist Kaakyire Kwasi Afari, he said, every year they set aside a day to embark on charity project as means to help the less privileged in the society.

Mr Sowatey stated that the church’s mandate was not only to preach the gospel but to also offer a helping hand to the needy just like God offered Christ to humanity whilst they commit and visioned in reaching out to more people in the area.

The children were advised against unhealthy practices that might not aid them to achieve their goals in future.

Receiving the items on behalf of the facility, Care Giver at the orphanage home, Madam Janet Amankwaah thanked YAF of the Nsukwao Calvary Congregation for the gesture and said the items would be used for its intended purpose.

She told Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Afeema FM that, their aim is to provide a family for orphaned children through their support and care and Christian values as they ensure that every child that goes through their adoption process is placed in a good loving and caring home to help create leaders and better people of the future.

Madam Janet Amankwaah is urging individuals as well as cooperate bodies to support with the payment of utility bills and also give financial assistance to inmates who have ambitions of acquiring tertiary education after completion of Senior high school and other domestic challenges.

The Kyidomhene of Akwadum, Nana Kwaku Owusu who commended the group for the donation advised other religious, corporate and social institutions to emulate the gesture and donate generously.

The told Afeema FM’s journalist Kaakyire Kwasi Afari that good education for all young people in the country would eradicate poverty, unemployment, and illiteracy, which were hindering development thus, he has urged students in the Orphanage home to take education seriously and give off their best.
