The former President of Ghana and 2020 flagbearer of the opposition NDC, John Dramani Mahama has urged national position aspirants to stop involving him and his family in their campaigns.
According to John Dramani Mahama, he and his family had never endorsed the bid of any aspirants as was recently circulated in the media. He said he as a former president and leader of the party was always ready to work with anyone who may be elected as a national executive member.
His statement follows a recent circulation on social media which indicated that John Mahama and his family had endorsed the incumbent national chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo to retain his slot as the national chairman.
Ofosu Ampofo who is seeking for a re-election, is being keenly contested by the incumbent general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah. The tough contest which has generated a lot of tension saw the latest circulation on social media that John Mahama and his family had shockingly come out denying Asiedu Nketiah’s bid by endorsing Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.
But in a sharp rebattal, John Dramani Mahama has rubbished such claims indicating that he and his family had never endorsed anyone.
The NDC is expected to elect its national executive on Sunday 17th December, 2022 to man the affairs of the party so that they can retrieve power from the current NPP government.
The positions to be contested for include; Chairman, Vice Chairman, National Organiser, Deputy National Organiser, General Secretary, Deputy General Secretary, Communications Officer, Deputy Communications Officer, Zongo Caucus Coordinator.
14 positions are being contested for by 81 aspirants. It is worth noting that, the women and youth branch positions were already held on 10th December leading to the retainment of Mad. Hannah Bissiw and Opare Addo as Women and Youth organisers respectively.
