KNUST’s young Associate Professor of Chemistry Richard Tia has died

n Associate Professor of Chemistry at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Richard Tia has died from stage 4 liver cancer complications. Professor Tia was diagnosed of the illness a little over a year ago and succumbed to it on November 30, 2022.

Prof Tia obtained a B.Sc. in Chemistry (First Class) from KNUST in 2005. He went on to earn a PhD in Computational Quantum Chemistry in 2010 from the same university. He was appointed a Lecturer at the Department of Chemistry in 2011.

Committed to his duties, he was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2016 and Associate Professor in 2020.

Prof Tia, until his death was a respected member of several chemical societies in the world.
