We need dual carriageway not single lane – aggrieved Youth of Sokoban to Gov’t

Social Media reactions as Minister collapses after driver escaped with his Ghc 17m galamsey cash

The aggrieved youth of Sokoban in the Nhyieso Constituency within the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly of the Ashanti Region has petition their traditional authorities over the abandoned road linking Daban to Atwima Kwanwoma. The youth took to the streets to demonstrate against the government over the bad roads.

Clad in red attire, they matched straight to the Queen Mother’s Palace to display their displeasure through a petition.

Despite the area and its surroundings being home to thousands, a stretch of road in the township has been abandoned.

They have threatened that no politician would be allowed to campaign in the area for the 2024 election if their road is not fixed and will vote against the New Patriotic Party.

They have, therefore, as a matter of urgency, called on the government to come and fix the deplorable road with daul carriageway as planned which is affecting economic activities of indigenes and those in adjoining communities.

They have alleged that, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah has said it on radio that, they are not going to get the dual carriageway as planned earlier because of some issues concerning compensation.

They said, the Honorable Minister in an interview said that, “they would rather use the the money that was planned to be used to compensate landlords that is affected by the road construction, for another project and construct a single lane road for them.”

Receiving the petition, the Akwamuhene of Sokoban Traditional Council, Nana Boakye assured the charged and aggrieved youths of handing over the petition to the Regional Minister and urge them to exercise patience and not to put the law into their hands.
