SAD: Man allegedly hangs himself at ‘Billy Boy’ area
Man Commits Suicide At Sefwi Asawinso
A man believe to be in his late 50’s has committed suicide at Billy Boy Area, a suburb of Sefwi Asawinso in the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality of the Western North region.
The reason for the deceased to commit suicide is not known yet.The Landlord of the deceased who spoke with UTV News in an exclusive interview said the man, Mr Bukari for some time was not in the house, he traveled to his two son’s outside Sefwi Asawinso to seek for medical attention since he was not well.
Several days after visiting his sons, Mr Bukari returned on Sunday, June 18, 2023.According to the landlord, Mr Bukari’s actions after his return didn’t show a person who is fully fit.
“Unfortunately, in the early hours of Monday around 5am, I woke up to pick a broom from the kitchen to sweep since I have been doing all those house cleaning work for some time now ever since Mr Bukari, the (Deceased’s) wife paralized with stroke.
“Immediately I entered the kitchen where we keep those items, I saw Mr Bukari hanging himself with a sponge in the kitchen so I moved outside from the the kitchen to go and inform his son Walisu since his wife is down with stroke and I didn’t want to inform her about the sad News,” the landlord told UTV News reporter Kwabena Dickson.
When UTV News Western North Regional Correspondent got to the scene and entered the kitchen where Mr Issaka Bukari had hanged himself, the deceased stood on a mortar which is being used to pound Palm nut, tied himself with a sponge and pushed the mortar he was standing on to kill himself.
One of his sons, Walisu Bukari who is also a person living with disability and stays with his father, told Kwabena Dickson that his late father did not show any sign of an attempt to commit such crime by commiting suicide.
“All that my father told me yesterday when he returned from my elder brother is that he is sick, he is still not well but couldn’t fathom why the next day he could hang himself with a sponge in the kitchen,” he told UTV News.
A Unit Committee Organizer, Joe who visited the scene told UTV News this is about the third time this unfortunate incident had happened in Sefwi Asawinso and we need to educate the people in the community about how to monitor their relatives if they are going through some things that can lead to this crime.
