WE HAVE observed with worry the incessant ill-motivated attacks on the personality of the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, by a broadcast journalist with Despite Media, Mr. Dan Kwaku Yeboah.
Mr. Kwaku Yeboah has never spared the least opportunity on his sport segment on the morning show to either unjustifiably criticise the Honourable Minister or cast insinuations at him for reasons best known to him.
This has been going on for more than five years without any response. Whether this is being done with the tacit approval of management or host of the morning show one cannot fathom.
It is even much painful considering the fact that Mr. Kwaku Yeboah has refused to apprise himself of the developments under this government; how the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, under the leadership of Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has contributed to the growth and development of this country.
His claims that the Minister has refused to concentrate on his official duty can only be said to be a figment of his own imagination.
For the avoidance of doubt, we would like Mr. Kwaku Yeboah to refer to recent data from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) which points to records of agriculture as the only sector that has witnessed steady growth since 2020 as a result of the laudable initiatives spearheaded by the Honourable Minister.
His wicked and unjustifiable criticisms can only be motivated by cold hatred. We do not want to believe he is only being used as a conduit by people who feel threatened by the popularity of the Honourable Minister.
Whilst we believe Mr. Kwaku Yeboah reserves the right as a citizen to express his opinion on political issues, even on a sports platform, we think such must be done based on solid facts and evidence but not ill-motitvated.
