Assin Akropong market committee vindicates Frank Asante over constituency chairman’s fraud allegations

The Committee running affairs of the market has been notified of a circulating news which we see as a serious allegation and a complete defamation.

It has come to our notice that Mr. Attakora Amaniampong, the Assin Central Constituency Chairman (NPP) in an interview on Nap Fm at Assin Fosu audaciously said Mr Frank Asante who happens to be the project coordinator for Assin Akropong Youth Association is a fraudster and that he and his counterparts are extorting an amount of two hundred cedis (200.00 cedis) from the market women which is a false allegation.

We want to make it clear to Mr. Attakora Amaniampong that, Assin Akropong Youth Association is not the same as Akotiman and Frank Asante is also not part of the committee and therefore not close to our finances.

Finally the Assin Akropong Youth Association is only pushing the agenda for the market to function properly and they have donated an amount of fifteen thousand Ghana cedis (¢15,000.00) which was disbursed as such to build a urinal for the market, renovate the market including the painting of the place, printed T-shirts which was shared for some of the market women and others will respectively receive theirs during the up coming occasion.

Mr Attakora also, stated that the market was built by honourable Kennedy Agyapong, the Assin Central Member of Parliament and we are failing to acknowledge his initiative which is surprising and the Assin Akropong Youth Association are taking the glory for the work they have not done.

He added that, they are campaigning for the market to be opened without the consent of the Assembly which is a blatant lie because the market committee consist of Assembly members and the association is working in collaboration with the Assembly before any decision is taken.

To our best of knowledge, the Assin Akropong Youth Association is a vibrant group contributing immensely to the development of Akropong and they are going extra mile to make life better in terms of socio-economic development for the natives and we appreciate them a lot for their initiatives.

We will therefore, not tolerate these unnecessary allegations which would retrogress development because tarnishing the people’s image will not encourage them to continue to assist in the diverse way they are helping as patriotic citizens. Hence, we call on Mr Attakora, Assin Central Constituency Chairman (NPP) to retract his statements and apologize for defamation else, a drastic action would be taken against him.
