Finally, E-Levy Controversy Settled, Bill Passed At A Reduced Rate
The eighth Parliament of the fourth republic of Ghana has passed the infamous Electronic Transaction Levy Bill popularly known as the E-levy.
The bill was passed this afternoon after finance minister Ken Ofori Attah reviewed the rate the levy downwards.
The Electronic Transaction levy bill was first laid before parliament at a rate of 1.75% but has now been reduced to 1.5% after the appearance of the Finance Minister in Parliament.
The passage of the Bill was not without drama and spectacle as the Minority Group in Parliament led by the Honorable Haruna Iddrisu walked out of parliament without taking part in the voice vote.
