So sad: Popular radio presenter jailed over 2020 election fake video
The Accra High Court Criminal Division has thrown a popular Power FM Journalist Oheneba Boama to a 14 days imprisonment. Aside that, he is also expected to pay a whopping amount of three thousand Ghana cedis to the court.According to the reports, Oheneba Boama posted some alleged secret videos regarding the 2020 election petition.
The alleged video featured President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and some Supreme Court Judges in a meeting.
TheJournalist further created the fake impression that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo had met the Judges to influence them with bribes in order to win the 2020 election petition which he actually succeeded. It later emerged that the video was fake and defamatory.
The journalist who was sued by the Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame pleaded guilty and accepted that the video’s source is not authentic.
In her ruling, the Presiding Judge Justice Elfreda Dankyi told the journalist that she has been magnanimous or soft in her judgement.
This is because the case of the journalist is a high class one which could have attracted a higher punishment
