Man and his wife die in a fatal accident
A report from TV3 announces a grave car accident claiming the lives of a prominent businessman, Mr. Kwame Asare, and his wife, Mrs. Akosua Asare.
This tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, January 26, 2025, on the Amasaman-Kasoa highway within the Ga West Municipality of Ghana. The couple, esteemed in their community for their generosity and active participation in church activities, was en route to a Sunday service at a local church in Amasaman.
Eyewitnesses recount that a black Toyota Camry collided head-on with a truck at a perilous bend near Obeyeyie Junction. An observer, Kofi Mensah, described the scene as harrowing. “We saw the car lose control and veer into the truck’s path.” The event transpired swiftly. Upon our arrival, they were trapped within the vehicle. “It was heart-wrenching to witness such a scene on a Sunday morning,” he remarked. Emergency services promptly arrived at the site following the accident.
Firefighters made valiant efforts to extricate the couple from the mangled vehicle, but regrettably, both were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies have subsequently been conveyed to the Amasaman Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation. The truck driver, sustaining minor injuries, is cooperating with the police in their investigation. The Ghana Police Service has urged drivers to exercise caution, particularly on high-traffic roads like the Amasaman-Kasoa highway, notorious for accidents.
Reverend Emmanuel Owusu, the minister of the couple’s church, expressed profound grief over the tragedy. “Mr. and Mrs. Asare were pivotal members of our congregation. They were kind, humble, and always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Their untimely demise is a significant loss for the church and the entire community.” The couple is survived by three children, who are currently under the care of family members.
