“Please, I don’t want to die young” – Cable thief pleads for mercy
Residents of Awutu Okwampa in the Central region have been for many years on a manhunt for thieves who have been tormenting their lives.
These thieves go around stealing everything that comes their way in the community. The youth in the area have been on high alert with a warning that any thief caught will not be spared.
Some of these thieves have been targeting high-tension cables plunging the area into darkness for some time now.
One of such thieves had a bad day after stealing high-tension cables in the area. The angry youth arrested him at midnight and subjected him to severe beatings.
He was beaten and later tied to an electricity pole with a rope. The angry youth swore to ensure the young thief was severely punished to serve as a deterrent to others.
He could be seen weak with bruises on parts of his body. As he was hanging on the pole, the young thief started begging for mercy.
He told the angry youth to spare his life. “I will not steal again, Please spare my life, I don’t want to die young”, he could be heard pleading to the angry youth.
The thief whose identity is still unknown thought it was his last day and started asking for forgiveness.
This should serve as a lesson to the many thieves in the country who have made it a mark to torment the lives of others.
Some of these thieves are mostly armed and will harm anyone who crosses their path. The Ghana Police Service should as well increase their visibility in communities to scare these thieves.
