A St. Louis man remained hospitalized in critical condition Monday after being shot in the head by a masked gunman during his Friday night wedding reception.
Police said two masked gunmen entered the St. Louis backyard of the bride, Dulce Gonzalez, early Saturday as guests continued celebrating the couple’s small home wedding, KSDK-TV reported Monday. Her sister, Yaribeth Pena, told the station that two men wearing ski masks ordered guests not to move. Police told the station that one gunman stood behind the groom, 32-year-old Manuel Gonzalez, as the other rifled through guests’ pockets.
Then one of the gunmen shot the groom in the head before they both fled. Pena said her sister is “distraught,” “depressed” and “heartbroken” as her new husband struggles to recover. “He’s fighting for his life,” Pena said. “We are hoping he pulls through.”

The couple share two children. Police have not made any arrests in the case. In another wedding day tragedy, bride Samantha Miller was killed on her wedding day in 2023.
Surveillance footage shows alleged drunk driver Jamie Lee Komoroski speeding before she reportedly struck into a golf cart carrying newlyweds Samantha Miller and Aric Hutchinson, in the tragedy that left Samantha dead.
A toxicology report showed Komoroski had a blood alcohol level of 0.261 and authorities have said she was driving well over twice the speed limit when she slammed into the back of a golf cart as it left the wedding reception.
Police have not made any arrests in the case.
Law enforcement officials said the new surveillance video reveals the moments leading up to the fatal accident in Folly Beach, South Carolina on April 28.
The footage, which has not been publicly released, depicts the newlywed couple driving in a golf cart along a road. They are seen being followed closely by the allegedly intoxicated driver.
Folly Beach Police Chief Andrew Gilreath told CNN that the video was captured shortly after the couple’s wedding reception on April 28 and just a few blocks away from the accident site.
