Post national service personnel to artisans to reduce unemployment – Wood workers chairman to Govt

National Service Scheme is mandated to deploy a pool of skilled manpower drawn primarily from tertiary institution to support the development efforts of both the public and private sectors in Ghana.
As it is mandated by the constitution of Ghana that graduands from tertiary institutions are to serve the country for a year under the national Service Scheme to promote the well being of the country.
As a result of this, the *chairman* of Wood Workers Association in the Bono East region, Mr. Akwasi Gyan Jomo has called on the National Service Secretariat and the Government of Ghana to always include artisanal works among the areas where national Service personnels are posted to serve.
Speaking to newsmen at Techiman in theBono East Region in an interview Mr Jomo added that , it is painful when artisanal works are excluded from fields national service personnels are posted to serve. He said the artisans could have supported the government to reduce unemployment rate if they are posted there.
Mr.Jomo said most of the people after completing national service becomes jobless which if they had their national Service at artisanal works they would have gain some skills to to create their own businesses to make living comfortable for themselves.
Finally Mr . Akwasi Gyan Jomo called on the government of Ghana to support artisans in the country because they play major roles to build the country and also reduce unemployment.
