At Kulungugu in the Upper East region, a thirteen years old school girl by name Elizabeth Asantewaa was given a bouquet of flowers to present to Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. The innocent teen was about to hand over the flowers to the President when a loud explosion occurred.
Apparently, the bomb was hidden in the flower and the little girl sustained various degree of injuries making her a cripple afterwards. Several years after the incident, many successive government neglected her and her plight worsened.
It’s rather unfortunate that a young innocent teenager could be used by some selfish and horrible nation wreckers in 1962. From all indications, she wasn’t aware of the said bomb.
Sadly, last year the lady who was 71 years of age passed away. Fast forward, a photo of her with Kwame Nkrumah who was the target of the bomb has emerged. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
