Already, the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service have served notice to the public avoid engaging persons who promise to change the schools of BECE graduates. School placement into Senior High Schools is set to be released in February. BECE graduates are therefore encouraged to wait for their placement and attend the SHS they are being placed.

The school placement is being released based on the aggregate each student attained in their BECE results.

In a press conference on Wednesday, the director revealed that the 2023 school placement has been released.

According to him, out of 547,329 registered candidates, 538,399 candidates qualified for placement. This clearly means that a total of 8,930 candidates were not placed in any senior high school or any TVET institution in the country. These are likely to be the candidates who obtained grade 9 in English or mathematics or in most subjects.

For this reason, they cannot start their secondary Education this year. If they want to access free SHS that will be in 2024 after they have retake the BECE as a private BECE candidate and excel before they can go to school.

Dr. Eric Nkansah added that a total of 322,780, representing 69.24% of the qualified students have been placed in at least one of their choices. However, 165,601 candidates, representing 37.76% could not be matched with any of their choices. All such students will therefore do self placement.

All candidates must visit www.cssps.gov.gh and check their results with their purchased vouchers.

Also, several students who were not placed in any school are finding it difficult to do the self placement. Here is an easy step;

CSSPS Self-Placement procedure

You will need your index number for this process.

Log on to the site with your index number.

Choose your residential preference (day or boarding).

If a candidate selects boarding. all schools with boarding vacancies will be displayed.

If a candidate selects a day, another menu will appear for candidates to

select:

i.Day within catchment area Or

ii. Day outside of catchment area

Day within the catchment area displays only schools with Vacancies within 16km of the JHS the candidate attended.

Day outside catchment area displays all schools with day vacancies.

The last part is the programme choice. Candidates will have to choose their preferred programme.

After going through this, candidates are required to print out the form and proceed to the school enrollment.

Everything is put in place to ensure that all qualified graduates of BECE get schools to attend through the CSSPS and the self-placement system.
