Cashew Farmers are entreating President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to as a matter of urgency provide them with a warehouse to keep their products in a safe place.
According to the cashew Farmers in the Kintampo South Municipality of the Bono East Region, they want the president to also construct a cashew factory for them to process their cashew into other useful and vital products to benefit the country.
Speaking to the press, they said lack of the warehouse forces them to sell their goods at a cheaper price. According to them, they do that to prevent the goods from rotten.
They also revealed that, the situation sometimes compels cashew Farmers to keep their cashew seeds outside, adding that, thieves take advantage of the situation to steal their cashew seeds being kept outside due to lack of warehouse.
Vice Chairman for the Cashew Farmers Union, Mr. Aboagye Dacosta said, construction of the warehouse will also generate massive income for the assembly hence the urgent need of it.
He added that if they get a cashew factory as their share of the government’s one district one factory project, it will boost the cashew business in Kintampo South.
In addition he opined that the factory will also help process some of the cashews into cashew juice to benefit the country at large.
