32-year-old man attacks his 65-year-old father with cutlass at Tumfokrom
A 32 year old man, Kwaku Nyankomago is in the police custody for attacking his 65-year-old father, Mr. Daniel Nsowah with a cutlass, butchering him in the process.
The incident occured at Tumfokrom in the Assin South District of the Central Region.
The victim is now battling for life at the Abura-Dunkwa District Hospital.
The victim received multiple slashes in his head, neck, shoulder, and elbow which resulted in cutting off his left hand, left foot, and left ear.
The neighbors upon hearing the victim shouting for help rushed to the scene to rescue him and was later sent to the hospital for treatment. The suspect, 32-year-old Kwaku Nyankomago who is currently in police custody at Nyankumase Ahenkro is said to be mentally impaired and has been tormenting the lives of residents with wounded objects on different occasions.
Meanwhile, a team of police officers at Nyankumase Ahenkro Police Command, led by Detective Lance Corporal Nii Armah Ashitey upon receiving the information rushed to the hospital and met the victim in a very critical condition at the emergency ward.
The police further intelligent operation led to the arrest of the suspect who absconded from the community and sneaked into the bush immediately after the act.
An investigation conducted revealed that the victim returned from the farm around 3:30 pm on 14th January, 2023 and met the suspect roasting yam in an oven at their compound.
The victim extended greetings to the suspect but he refused to respond, while waiting for some time, the victim entered his room to change his farm gear.
The suspect without provocations pulled up a well-sharpened cutlass, proceeded to his father’s room, inflicted on him and took to his heels but was later arrested and detained by the police.
