Stench engulfs the following communities, dwellers lament
The following communities, Kwabedu, Adwenabatam and Bogrekrom within the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region have been engulfed with dirt as dwellers lament
The residents have expressed worry over the situation saying, heaps of waste have been littered inside and around the entire communities.
The stench, according to the residents is making living in the aforementioned areas unbearable adding that, flies have taken over the environment with snakes hovering around the places.
In an interview with filasconews, the residents fear of a possible outbreak of cholera if the lamentable situation is not rectified.
They indicated that, they have endured the bad situation for over a decade.
“Gradually, the thrashes are swallowing us. Just look around, all the places have been engulfed with waste”, they stressed.
To avoid future health disaster in those communities, the people are urgently calling on the authorities to resolve the situation immediately.
“All attempts to get the problem solved yielded no results but this time, with your intervention, we pray the authorities will pay heed to it and address our concerns”, they sadly revealed in the interview.
Hon. Akwasi Paa, the assembly member for the three communitiies in respond to the issue in an interview with Filasco Degeneral blamed the bad behaviours on the part of section of the locals within his electoral area for the poor sanitation problem.
He said, many of his people prefer dumping around instead of keeping them in a thrash bin for proper disposal opining that, such uncalled-for behaviours had hugely accounted for the challenge they are facing.
Hon. Paa is therefore calling for attitudinal change from his residents in waste management and urged ‘Nananom’ to also help find lasting solution to the problem.
