You can bring the ballot boxes into our community but we will not vote if our road networks remain the same, Asuonwunu residents tell Government.
The aggrieved residents of Manso-Asuonwunu in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region have sent a signal to the Government that, they will advice themselves in the impending general election if the NPP government fails to construct their deplorable road.
The disturbing locals in an interview with filasconews on November 22,2021, said, they have been true faithfuls to the New Patriotic Party since independence but their road has seen no improvement under the party.
The assembly member of the area, Hon. Patrick Agbeame revealed, Government send machines on the road ahead of every general election to lure the people and win their heart as if construction will commenced but withdraws all the machines on the road after election.
He said the residents can’t tolerate that treatment anymore hence their decision to avoid going to the pole to vote for the party in the next three years election.
“We are not going to accept this treatment again. We’re going to advice ourselves as people”.
“They will bring the ballot box but we will not go to the pole to vote”, Hon. Abeam stressed.
He sadly added that, before the 2020 general election, machines were brought on the road to start work. The contractor damaged all the bridges on the road to pave way for the construction but has left the site after the election.
“And my brother, if I tell you the number of people dieing on the road as a result of the bridge they dismantled, you’ll faint. My people are dieing untimely because that and we can’t continue with this”, the disheartened Honourable member recalled.
The residents on their part expressed disappointment in the government saying the government has failed to deliver on its numerous promises to construct their road for them.
They have therefore joined hands with their leaders to shun the pole in 2024 if their roads are not facelifted by the government.
