Chereponi: Several houses torched in renewed clash
MyNewsGh.com has learnt that several houses have been torched after renewed clashes between the Anufors and the KonKombas in Chereponi in the North East Region.
According to reports, the clash emanated as a result of a conflict over a parcel of land in the Chereponi District.
Our source in the area said that the land in contention is located between Gbalo(an Anufor community) and Sagon( a Konkomba community) and has been in litigation for over five years.
Although there have been efforts to settle the issues amicably, members of the Anufor community have always disagreed.
Our source in the area said they torched several houses in Sagon after the Konkonbas decided to use the land under litigation for farming.
This has left several members of the Sagon Community displaced. However, no casualties have been recorded so far.
Meanwhile, the Police and Fire Service personnel had not visited the scene when this report was being published.
