GPL Match-week 19: Kotoko Comm Team Member stabbed to death
A member of Asante Kotoko Supporters’ communication team, Francis Yaw Frimpong popularly known as Nana Pooley has been stabbed to death by unknown men during a Ghana Premier League game at the Nana Kromansah Park in Nsoatre.
The tragic event occurred during a Ghana Premier League match-week 19 game between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC on February 2, 2025.
According to an official statement from Asante Kotoko, Nana Pooley was stabbed by unknown men during an altercation during the second half of the game.
The deceased supporter was rushed to the Sunyani Regional Hospital with the efforts of saving his life after sustaining multiple of injuries.
Nana Pooley wedded his long-time girlfriend in December 2024.
Asante Kotoko SC has strongly condemned the violent incidents that marred their Ghana Premier League Matchweek 19 clash against Nsoatreman FC at the Nana Koramansah Park.
The club revealed that their team was subjected to hostility from the moment they arrived at the stadium, including confrontations with home supporters. Despite the provocation, Asante Kotoko remained committed to fair play and completed the match.
However, the situation escalated during the game as missiles were thrown at the Kotoko bench on multiple occasions, creating a hazardous environment for players and officials. The chaos reached its peak when the club’s Head of Media suffered a serious ear injury after being struck by an object.
