Trump Deportation 2025: Ghana tops the list in Africa- Check the list
Recent reports from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reveal that Ghana has the highest number of deportation cases in Africa under former President Donald Trump’s new immigration policy for 2025. The data, labeled “Trump Deportation List for 2025,” outlines the final removal cases for individuals from various countries, with Ghana topping the list in Africa.
According to the statistics, 6,200 Ghanaians are set to be deported from the U.S., making Ghana the highest-ranked African country on the list. Following Ghana is Egypt, with 5,400 deportation cases. Other African nations like Guinea, Senegal, and Angola also appear on the list, recording 4,700, 3,800, and 1,800 cases respectively.
The list features countries from other regions as well, including Romania (4,500 cases), Georgia (3,000 cases), Albania (2,300 cases), Tajikistan (1,500 cases), and Mauritania (1,200 cases).
The deportation policy has been a key focus of Trump’s agenda as he seeks to tighten immigration regulations in his political comeback. Critics argue that the policy disproportionately targets certain regions, particularly Africa and parts of Eastern Europe.
For Ghana, the high number of deportations raises concerns about its citizens’ legal status in the U.S. and the challenges they face in seeking permanent residency. Many Ghanaians living in the U.S. are reported to have overstayed their visas or failed to secure the necessary documentation to remain in the country legally.
The Ghanaian government has not yet issued an official statement on the matter. However, experts believe the rising deportation cases could affect the diaspora community and reduce remittances sent back home.
As the U.S. prepares to implement these deportations, it remains to be seen how countries like Ghana will manage the reintegration of citizens returning home.
