Finally Ayine lauds Mr Digital over his game-changer policy
Incoming Attorney General Dominic Ayine has lauded Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s digitalization initiatives, particularly the implementation of the Biometric Ghana Card, describing it as a transformative tool for governance and national development.
In a recent interview, Ayine emphasized the Ghana Card’s critical role in modernizing Ghana’s public sector. “The benefits of the Biometric Ghana Card championed by Dr. Bawumia have set a good foundation for any government to make sound decisions,” he stated.
The Ghana Card, a cornerstone of the government’s digitalization efforts, has centralized citizens’ data, improving resource allocation, reducing fraud, and streamlining processes across sectors. Its applications span voter registration, cashless transactions, and integration of government databases, significantly enhancing efficiency and transparency.
Ayine underscored the importance of continuity in leveraging digital tools for development, expressing his commitment to fostering innovation within Ghana’s legal framework. “As Attorney General, I will advocate for policies that support innovation and ensure the legal environment fosters the growth of such initiatives,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia’s broader digitalization agenda has garnered widespread acclaim, with initiatives such as digitized land records, mobile payments for government services, and digital platforms for healthcare and education. These efforts have strengthened Ghana’s digital economy, improving the ease of doing business and attracting praise from international partners.
While challenges like rural access to digital infrastructure persist, Ayine remains optimistic about the future, signaling potential collaboration and continuity in advancing Ghana’s digital transformation agenda across political lines.
