” I don’t need Akufo Addo’s statue in my Constituency”- Sekondi MP charges
I don’t need Akufo-Addo’s statue in my constituency, I will relocate it back to Kyebi- Sekondi MP
Blay Nyameke, the Member of Parliament for Sekondi, has announced plans to relocate the statue of former President Akufo-Addo from the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Western Region to Kyebi.
According to him, he would first seek permission from President John Mahama before proceeding.
He criticized the presence of the statue, arguing that Akufo-Addo’s contributions to the region do not warrant such a monument.
He further stated that the former president should have prioritized the development of the area rather than focusing on personal recognition.
“What did Nana Addo do for us in the Western Region to deserve a statue there? The statue, our communicators will relocate to his hometown. We will get permission from our President (Mahama) to relocate the statue to Kyebi and mount Kwame Nkrumah’s statue there,” he said in an interview on an Accra based TV station.
