Interior Minister: Okudzeto Ablakwa; Oliver Barker Vormawor……
FixTheCountry convener, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has recommended some names for John Dramani Mahama to consider for ministerial appointments if he wins the 2024 presidential election.
According to Barker-Vormawor, the Member of Parliament for the North Tongu Constituency, Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, should be appointed as the Minister for Interior. Over the past few days, Barker-Vormawor has been actively advocating for Ablakwa’s appointment to this position. He believes that Okudzeto Ablakwa will best fit in that sector and support the government in that sector.
In addition to this suggestion, he proposed other names for key ministerial roles in Mahama’s potential administration. The recommendations include:
1. Joyce Bawah Mogtari – Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade
2. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings – Minister for Defence
3. Dr. Dominic Ayine – Minister for Communications and Information (combined)
4. Dr. Omane Boamah – Minister for Energy
5. Callistus Mahama – Minister for Local Government
6. Valerie Sawyer – Chief of Staff
7. Justice Sai – Executive Secretary and Legal Counsel to the President
8. Emeafa Hardcastle – Deputy Chief of Staff
9. Ibrahim Tanko – Secretary to Cabinet
Also, few days ago, Oliver Barker-Vormawor advised President-elect John Dramani Mahama to avoid appointing regional ministers in his next administration.
Oliver Barker-Vormawor emphasized Mahama’s earlier promise to reduce the number of ministers to 60 if elected president.
He presented calculations to support his argument, explaining that appointing 19 cabinet ministers and their deputies would result in 38 ministers. If Mahama also appoints 16 regional ministers, only 6 slots would remain for other key appointments.
Barker-Vormawor argued that Ghana could still function effectively without regional ministers, enabling Mahama to deliver on his promise of a lean government.
