Wahala: Judge sacked by CJ for sleeping with a petitioner storms Court

Former Jasikan Circuit Court Judge, Alfred Kwabena Asiedu, has initiated legal action against the Judicial Service, Chief Justice Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, and the Attorney General following his dismissal over allegations of misconduct.

In a dismissal letter dated November 13, 2023, Judge Asiedu was accused of abuse of power, sexual exploitation, and malicious prosecution. The accusations stemmed from a petition filed by Singari Diana Sadia on January 16, 2023. Sadia alleged that Asiedu exploited his judicial authority for sexual favors and engaged in improper conduct.

Subsequently, the disciplinary proceedings initiated by the Judicial Service found him guilty, resulting in his dismissal. He was instructed to hand over all official assets, including his vehicle, court dockets, and record books, to the Judicial Secretary.

Now, Asiedu is challenging the decision, claiming that his dismissal was unlawful. He argues that the disciplinary process violated his rights and failed to adhere to established judicial protocols. In his lawsuit, he has named the Judicial Service, Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, and the Attorney General as respondents.

The case has drawn significant public interest due to the severity of the allegations and the high-profile figures involved. Judge Asiedu’s legal battle not only questions the fairness of the disciplinary process within the judiciary but also raises concerns about the balance of power and accountability in such proceedings.

The outcome of this case will determine whether Asiedu’s allegations of wrongful termination hold merit, potentially setting a precedent for future judicial disciplinary actions.
