Ashanti Regional branch of Ghana Publishing Company Limited inaugurated in Kumasi

Ghana Publishing Company Limited, Ghana’s premier printing and publishing hub has inaugurated its Ashanti Regional branch. This branch of the company seeks to serve not only the Ashanti Region and its environs, but also the Northern part of the country.

The ceremony, held at the new branch in Kumasi was attended by scores of people from all walks of life. In attendance were the
Minister for Information, Honorable Fatimatu Abubakar, Minister for Public Enterprises, Honorable Joseph Codjoe, a representative of the State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA), and a representative of the Regional Police Command.

Addressing the gathering during the ceremony, Honorable Joseph Codjoe who doubles as the chairperson of the occasion applauded the board and management of GPCL for the bold and audacious initiative to expand the frontiers of the company beyond the country’s capital.

He re-emphasized the core mandate of his ministry to ensure that all state enterprises are equipped, given the needed resources to reach their maximum potential. He pledged his ministry’s commitment to ensure that Ghana Publishing Company Limited is found in every region of the country.

On her part, the Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar reiterated the journey of Ghana Publishing Company Limited from its early days and its transformation till date. “Ladies and gentlemen, the story of GPCL’s resurgence is one of resilience and strategic vision and exceptional management.

It is heartwarming to note that GPCL has emerged as one of the most viable institutions consistently reporting profits over the last two years. She underscored.

According to her, the Ghana Publishing Company which is also known as Assembly Press, is one of the agencies under the ministry of information. She said it was very sad how the company at some point deteriorated. Adding that the visionary leadership of President Akufo Addo and his team, the agency has now resurrected to a very great standard, citing the Accra branch as an example when it comes to infrastructure and equipment.

She said, in a quest to equally serve all the regions in Ghana, the agency has decided to expand its branches; a reason for the current establishment in Kumasi.

According to her, the new branch in Kumasi, apart from serving its purpose as printing, selling and gazetting centre, is also going to open many opportunities for people. She said, many youth are going to be employed at the center to reduce the unemployment rate.

The Managing Director, Mr. David Boateng Asante on the other hand, took the gathering through the journey to the Ashanti Regional Branch, and the vision of Board and management to ensure Ghana Publishing to be in every region of the country. “We have an ambitious plan to expand our presence to other regions, specifically the Northern regions in the near future. He emphasized. He expressed his deepest appreciation to the government of Ghana, the sector minister, Board, management and staff of the Ghana Publishing Company Limited for their efforts in making this initiative a reality.
