5000 Kayayes to be trained by end of 2024 – NEIP Director, Kofi Fosu reveals
As part of the government’s effort to eradicate Kayayei from the Major Street in the Country and Empower them with Skills to be come their bosses, the chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship and innovation programm(NEIP) Kofi Ofosu has Stated 5000 kayayei are expected to be trained and graduated from the Kayayei Empowerment programme by the end of the year.
Again, the program, which was an initiative of vice president of republic of Ghana Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia ,Aims to equip young women with the skills and resources needed to over come poverty and become economically independent.
Finally trainees were housed in Ashaiaman and Madina hostels , Hostels which each hostel talking 300 at a time in all 1200 Kayayei trained and graduated from both the first and second (2) Cohorts.
The graduation, who were trained in six(6) Specialized skills areas, such as Baking making,beads making, Soap making, jewelry making and many more
