THE Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) director general Guntilla Muleya has been shot dead.

Mr Muleya was discovered dead in Njolwe area located in the east of Lusaka.

Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana has confirmed.

Mr Kawana said the body was found with a gun shot wound.

“Clearly, he was murdered and police are investigating and I can assure the nation that all those involved in the crime will be brought to book,” he said.

And police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga also confirmed that Woodlands Police Station received a report from a concerned member of the public in the Njolwe area.

He said the member of the public reported that during the night of July 23, 2024, at around 20:00 hours, he observed a vehicle, which he assumed to be a Pajero, with its doors open.

Mr Hamoonga said the member of public stated that shortly thereafter, he heard two gunshots.

“This morning, July 24, 2024, at approximately 10:00 hours, while on his way to work, he discovered the body of a deceased male on the ground.

Upon receiving this report, the police promptly visited the scene of the crime, located at Palabana NAPSA Housing along the gravel road. The body of a male individual was found with two bullet wounds on the back and head,” he said.

Mr Hamoonga said a closer examination revealed a deep bullet wound on the forehead.

He said two bullet cartridges were recovered at the scene.

“An identity card was found in the pocket of the victim’s trousers, bearing the name D.M. Guntilla Muleya, Director General of the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA). A docket for a case of murder has been opened, and investigations are currently underway,” he said.
