Bono Region: Woman burns daughter for missing ¢5 “apio” money
A 31-year-old woman is in the custody of the Kato police in Berekum Municipality in the Bono region for allegedly burning her 12-year-old daughter with hot iron for misplacing an amount of GHC 5 meant for the purchase of local gin, Akpeteshie and Cigarette.
According to reports that reached GhanaNewsPage.Com, the mother in the early hours of Sunday, 18th June, 2023 sent the child to buy her the substances but she misplaced the money on her way and didn’t return home with the cigarette and Akpeteshie.
Reasons assigned by the victim for failing to come home with the cigarette and Akpeteshie did not go down well with the mother.
The angry mum plugged an electric iron and pressed it on the chest region of the victim leading to burns on the breast.
The cry for mercy by the victim went unheeded.
According to the victim, his father had gone to work when this happened.
A passerby who heard of the plea for mercy reported the issue to the police leading to the arrest of the mother.
The police are now preparing her for court.
