It is soo disheartening to see future leaders in this disgusting situation.

According to Emmanuel Sowah’s report on the Education Watch in the Western Region, the pupils of Fosukrom Nyamebekyere Community Basic School sit on blocks to learn during class time.

The community is in the Bia East District of the Western North Region in Ghana.

The school lacks desks for the pupils to sit on and learn hence sitting on materials like the blocks to study in class.

Due to the lack of school chairs for the pupils, Class 1 to Class 6 of the school have been combined into three groups in order to even have accommodation as structures also remain one of their major challenge.

Class One and Class Two have been combined. Class Three and Class Four have been combined into one and also Class 5 and Class 6 also joined.

This is making teaching and learning very difficult in the school.

The heartbreaking pictures available with Filasconews.com capture some pupils sitting on blocks during class hour.

The situation has also contributed to Teachers deficit.

Meanwhile, in 2019 the government started 6 unit classrooms for the school through Coda but unfortunately the project have been stalled and the saddest thing is that, about 200 bags of cement meant for the project have expired.

The care taker of the community, Abusuapanin Robert Yaw Agon disclosed to Emmanuel Sowah(journalist) that, the school was established in 1983 and since then, has seen no proper improvement after the DCE of the area, Hon. Benjamin Armah in 2001 built 3 unit classroom blocks for the Junior High School students.

Concerned resident, Nana Robbert was worried about suspension of the government’s six unit classrooms.

The PTA chairman for the school, Mr Paul Asum Takyi, said they are not happy about the situation of their children.

He said the children sometimes prefer staying at home than to go to school and face numerous challenges.

The people of the community and the pupils are appealing to government and philanthropists to come to their aid.
