“Wee” smokers beat two police personnel to pulp over alleged ¢1K bribe
Two community Police Officers are currently battling for their lives after they were subjected to severe beatings by an agitated gang of wee smokers.
The community police officers identified as Owura and Exhibit took an amount of GHC 1000 from the gang and claimed they were sent by the Police Commander in the community as a fee to bail one of the gang leaders who was in police custody following his arrest for his involvement in a crime
Speaking on Angel FM in Kumasi, the Assembly Member of the Abisim Daman Electoral area Hon Ransford Osei confirmed that the money was indeed taken by the two community police officers to help them release one of their members of the gang who was arrested for smoking weed.
The incident occurred in two separate communities Juaben Asokwa and Juaben Abisim respectively.
He noted that the gang after giving the money to the community police personnel was expecting their member to be released but nothing of that happened days after.
They further went to enquire about the issue from the police command but they were told nobody sent them (Community police) to take such money.
This confirmation from the police made the weed gang lose their temper and went to the houses of these community police officers, dragged them out and started beating them.
In a video sighted by MyNewsGH.com, the gang numbering about ten between the ages of 15 and 20 went to the house of the community police personnel one after the other, dragged them from their rooms and started beating them with life-threatening objects.
In the said video, one of the gang was heard saying “You are part of us, we all smoke and drink tramadol but you go behind us and leak information about us to the police”.
The two victims have since been admitted at the hospital for treatment.
So far six people have been arrested while the leader of the gang, Antwi Kofi is still on the run.
The suspects have been identified as Antwi Kofi (leader) on the run, Kwame Poku (aka OPK) Kenkey (a lady), Maame Yaa, and 3 others.
