Two people are confirmed dead in a ghastly accident near Akatsi in the Volta Region.

The accident occurred on Friday, May 26, 2023, when a Toyota Highlander collided with a motorbike.

According to eyewitnesses, the Toyota somersaulted after the driver attempted to swerve the tricycle which collided with the motorbike.

The two victims died on the spot while a third person’s leg was amputated.

Meanwhile, the traumatized eyewitnesses lamented the delay in the arrival of an ambulance at the scene.

According to data from the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), although the number of motorcycles involved in crashes reduced by 11.9 percent from 6,166 in 2021 to 5,432 in 2022, most of the fatalities on the road involved motorcyclists.

NRSA revealed that 41 percent of the 2,373 deaths through road fatalities in 2022 involved motorcycles.
