Watreso D/A Basic School in Hemang Lower Denkyira District of the Central Region has celebrated its 78th anniversary and homecoming Day.

The celebration was programmed under the theme: “Equipping the future leaders through ICT; the role of stakeholders in aid of ICT center”.

Dignitaries presented at the occasion include Mr. Kwabena Antwi Konadu(Snr Assistant Registrar/General manager CBS/ATL Fm University of Cape Coast), DCE Hon. Kennedy Sarpong, Hon Isaac Smith Acquah(former Assembly member), Hon Kojo Boadu (Assembly member for watreso electoral area) other traditional rulers gracing the occasion includes; Barima siaw pannin lll (Denkyira Gyasehene),Nana Kwaku Fosu (Regent watreso),Nana Afia Braggo l (Queen mother watreso) and Abusua pannins of various Akan Clans were all present.

Speaking at the gathering on Wednesday December 14, 2022, Chairman for the program, Mr. Kwabena Antwi Konadu said the initiative of the ICT Centre at Watreso is aimed at providing universal access to Information communication technology (ICT) applications for accelerated growth and development through reliable and prompt availability of information.

He further explained that it will also bridge the digital divide between rural and urban areas and further enhance the performance of students in the community during BECE examination.

In an interview with Joel Donkoh Bankam fm morning show Producer, Nana Afia Braggo l, In her remarks, said Watreso D/A Basic school had served as a grooming home for many people who had later served their nation since 1944.

She urged staff and pupils of the school to pursue excellence in all their deeds, reminding them that it was only when they did that the fruits of their works would be bountiful.

She also reminded Old students of their duty to give back to the school which moulded them to become what they are today.

Headmaster Mr Francis Asante, express his gratitude and thank the dignitaries,Teachers,Parents and the local committee for their great contribution before,during and after the anniversary to a successful end, he also appeal to the Ministry of Communications and digitalization (MoCD), NGO’s and Philanthropist to help build a modern ICT Center for the School.
