A new court facility has been commissioned on Friday, March, 10, for the Fanteakwa South District in the Eastern Region in fulfillment of the Judiciary’s vision to bring justice delivery closer to Osino and its environs.
The Osino District Court has a Washroom, Cells, courtroom, Magistrate’s office, processing office and offices for the accountant, administrator, registrar, and bailiff.
The Fanteakwa South District Chief executive, Mr. Ernest Ofosu said President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had, once again, fulfilled his promise to Osino by bringing justice delivery to the doorstep of the people in addition to already chalked success in the area of roads, health, education, infrastructure etc.

He expressed gratitude to the President, the Chief Justice, the Chief of Akyem Osino, the contractor for projects and the people of Fanteakwa South for their immense support to “make this dream a reality.”
Mr Ernest Ofosu told Afeema FM’s journalist Kaakyire Kwasi Afari in his speech that, the construction of the new court building, with support from the District Assembly Common Fund by the administrator of the fund through the judicial service, was a testament to the Assembly’s commitment to justice and rule of law.
He urged that Ghanaians should see the court as one of the constitutional bodies mandated to settle cases to end mob justice in our society.
Mr. Ernest Ofosu was optimistic that the new court will help fight illegal mining activities submerging the district and maintenance of rule of law.
The Chief Justice, His Lordship Kwasi Anin Yeboah in his address in a short ceremony, he said, it was a collective responsibility to ensure that democracy thrived in the country, which could be actualized with a well- resourced judiciary.
He lauded the efforts of the DCE, the chief of Osino for releasing lands for the building and the Government for providing the infrastructure to address infrastructure deficit whilst ensuring an environmentally friendly justice delivery system in Osino and Ghana at large.
According to the Chief Justice, the Osino District Court was in fulfilment of Section 12(3) (h) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), which stated that “District Assemblies are to ensure ready access to court facilities to satisfy their justice needs,” he said.
Justice Yeboah advised court users, especially the staff, to adopt the highest maintenance culture of the facility and its equipment.
For his part, the Chief of Akyem Osino, Osaabarima Otu Darko (iv) expressed concern about delays in settling cases in court.
The emphasized that the law courts should be the ideal place for aggrieved parties to seek redress at all times.
The traditional leader stressed the need for the law courts to swiftly settle all cases that are brought before them to boost people’s confidence in the justice system.
“There is a saying that justice delayed is justice denied. And from the look of things, the justice delivery system in the country is encountering undue delays” he added.
His comments suggest that, rampant mob actions and instant killing in the country may be as a result of frequent postponement of cases at the law court adding that, people are gradually losing confidence in our court system.
