Ensuring Gender equity, we must intensify sensitization and girl-child education – CHRAJ Boss
The Municipal Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) at the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo region, Mr. Bediako Appah has said that Ghana can ensure gender equity and equality by intensifying girl-Child education and sensitization on the need to improve gender equity as a key factor to facilitate development.
He justified that lack of girl-child education has affected a lot of women which according to him has resulted in gender inequality explaining that we must take into seriously consideration the education of females by making all educational avenues available to them. He bemoaned how parents in the olden days prioritized the education of their male children over the female thereby affecting the gender balance in every aspect of work in the country.
Speaking in an interview with Kwaku Mensah Abrampa on High radio Morning Show dubbed High Morning Breeze on Wednesday during the commemoration of the international women’s day celebration, He argued that equal house chores must be made available to boys and girls and the same must be given in education to ensure the bridging of gender inequality.
On her part, the Tano South Municipal Director of Social welfare Madam Gradys Zurey added that we must embrace gender equity in our communities and homes to help spread it across in other aspects of work.
She expressed that husband must respect their wives and vice versa which according to her will strengthen gender equity.
She added that political parties must make available constituencies that are within their strongholds to be contested by women indicating that this will go a long way to include more women in governance and other government businesses to foster gender equality.
